Description

What this test will show

This test provides a comprehensive evaluation of gastrointestinal function. It gives a valuable insight into digestive function including ability to digest and absorb dietary nutrients, intestinal inflammation, status of the microbiome – presence and balance of commensal and any pathogenic bacteria, yeast (incuding candida species), fungus and parasites (including protozoa, worms and any parasitic ova) – and an indicator of immune function of the gut, the status of which is critical for protecting our overall health. By identifying imbalances, infection, insufficiencies and inflammation, we can improve not just gut health, but our overall health, by implementing a treatment protocol to address the root cause of these, rather than just treating the symptoms.

The test also gives an insight into conditions such as small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), intestinal permeability (leaky gut), ulcers, polyps, diverticulitis, colorectal cancer, food intolerances and allergies, celiac disease, IBD (Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis), distinguishing between IBD and IBS.
