What this test shows
As well as showing levels of different types of cholesterol in the blood, this test also provides a detailed assessment of cardiovascular health status. Advanced biomarkers indicate cholesterol metabolism, inflammation and insulin resistance. This enables more targeted therapy to minimise cardiovascular disease risk. Vitamin D and homocysteine are also included in this test. Genetics can also influence how your body handles cholesterol – please click here for the Cholesterol and Cardiovascular Health Test with Genomics (MET14) if you wish to assess whether genetic variations (SNPs) affect your cholesterol status.
Who this test is for
This test is helpful for those who have previously been tested and found to have abnormal cholesterol and lipid levels, and particularly where there is a family history of heart disease. It is also appropriate for those who have premature cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, who are physically inactive, and for smokers.
